Players Chosen for 2010 All Star Game PDF Print E-mail

2010 saw the Sabercats All Star selections, handled in a different manner. For the first time in Sabercat history, All Stars were voted on by the players. Coach Hoffman, and the coaching staff, decided to let the players choose who they wanted to represent the "Cats" in the All Star Game. This was done, where the players filled out a card with their top 6 choices as all stars. Coach Hoffman then tabulated the votes, and noted the top 6. Of the remaining players receiving votes, Coach Hoffman then took the next 2 players getting the next highest votes, and placed them on the list of 6, creating a list of 8 players. Commisioner Hobson asked each G.M to please submit a list of 10 payers to help fill an All Star roster of 40 players. The list was then submitted to Hobson for thye final selections of who would make the list of All Stars.

Players are looked at very closely and chosen by their positions they played. "If we had an outstanding player for our team, that we thought would be a #1 selection, their was no guarantee that he would make it. There may have been 2 other players in the league that finished better than our player, and they would get the nod", said Coach Hoffman. It doesnt always seem fair, and there are players that have and will express their concerns and dislikes about the voting, not only on the Sabercats, but throughout the entire League. History has proven that. Coach Hoffman says, "This is why we decided to put the voting in the hands of our own players. So if they dont like the way things turned out, they simply have to look back and ask themselves....who voted this way?
This year, the Sabercats will have 5 players on the starting squad for the North All Stars. They also have 4 players that made the alternate list. This list is for players that may be chosen, in the event that other players cannot make the game. "Last year we had 4  players chosen for the game as starters, and ended up with 6 players that actually got to play", says  Hoffman.
This years starters are: Tyler Collingwood...QB, Cody Bates...WR, Terry Lewis...OL, Joe Navarro...DT, and Mark Moreno...S.
This years alternates are:  Kyle Hogg...RB, Ryan Hicks...TE, Charlie Finch...KR and Gabe Moreno...LB.
Coach Hoffman, who also made the All Star game for his second season in a row, as an assistant, is honored and proud of players that have been chosen to represent the Sabercats, in this years AA All Star Game.
